Golden jubilee Celebrations of Kerala Kalamandiram at Thrissur


Golden jubilee celebrations of Kerala Kalamandiram founded by Guru Padmasree Kalamandalam Kshemavathy will be conducted from 14-18 August 2017 at Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Hall, Thrissur, Kerala. The 5-day art feast will be inaugurated by Shri V S Sunilkumar, Minister for Agriculture on 14th August 2017 . Smt KPAC Lalitha, (chairperson of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, Actress ) and Shri Jayaram (Padma Awardee, Actor) will be the chief guests. The art feast will have performances by eminent artists in classical dance.

Kerala Kalamandiram, founded in 1965 is a viable institution that provides training for aspirant students in classical dance. The 50th year celebrations is organized by Kerala Kalamandiram in association with Kerala Sangeeth Nataka Akademi, Thrissur.

14 Aug:

05.00 pm- Inaugural meeting of the 50th year celebrations.
07.00 pm- Mohiniyattam Recital by the disciples of Kalamandalam Kshemavathy. (Saradhi Dance Academi, Chennai)
08.00 pm- Bharathanatyam Recital by  Shri Renjith & Smt. Vijna

Renjith & Vijna: Partners in dance and life, Renjith and Vijna aim to extend the boundaries of Indian traditional dance and create a new benchmark by using innovative dance techniques. The couple work together as creative partners in moulding complete individuals through their brainchild, Saraswatham Foundation.

15 Aug:

06.30 pm- Dance performance by the students of Kerala Kalamandiram
07.30 pm- Kathak Recital by Shri Tushar Bhatt & Smt. Pooja Bhatt

Tushar and Pooja are well known Kathak dance duo from Bengaluru. They balance traditional arts with contemporary designs and serve Kathak in many ways. They aim to reach out to teaching, choreographing, and dancing Kathak.

16 Aug:

06.00 pm- Dance performance by the students of Kerala Kalamandiram
07.00 pm- Dance performance by the students of Abhinaya, Qatar
08.00 pm- Mohiniyattam recital by Smt. Sudha Peethambaran

Sudha Peethambaran is a well known Mohiniyattam danseuse and has performed at various national and international venues. She is the Director of Sree Sankara School of Dance, Kalady, one of the largest classical dance schools in Kerala.

17 Aug:

06.30 pm- Dance performance by the disciples of Kerala Kalamandiram
07.30 pm- Odissi recital by Kum. Sarita Mishra

Sarita Mishra is the creative director of her Bangaluru based Adyasha School of Odissi Dance. Her rigorous training, self-discipline and dedication has won her worldwide acclaim.

18 Aug:

06.30pm- Mohiniyattam recital by Padmasree Kalamandalam Kshemavathy
07.00pm- Kuchipudi recital by Smt. Anupama Mohan and Smt. Eva Pavithran

Kalamandalam Kshemavathy undergone her early education in Mohiniyattam, the classical dance of Kerala from Kerala Kalamandalam. Kshemaathi is strictly rooted in the basic traditions of Mohiniyattamyet yet experimental enough to have established herself a pioneer in adopting a Hindustani ghazal for Mohiniyattam.  Kshemavathi was also a keen pursuant of other art forms. She undertook advanced training in Bharathanatyam under Guru Mutuswami Pillai, Guru Chitra Visweswaran and guru Adayar Lakshmanan. And trained in Kuchuppudi under Guru Vempatti Chinna Satyam. She has enthralled audiences around the world at countless international and national venues and trained students across India and around the world. Married to veteran Malayalam film maker late. V K Pavithran, Kshemavathy has two daughters Eva and Lakshmi.  She has honoured with many awards including Padmasree in 2011.

Anupama Mohan started training in Kuchipudi from the legendary Guru late. Vempati Chinna Satyam at the age of eight. She has been a  pioneer in imparting her teacher’s legacy to students across Kerala.
